Artist Statement

'As a painter and drummer I am constantly drawn to the key elements of rhythm, movement and pattern. I like to explore the visual magic of colour in an attempt the balance figurative and abstract concerns.

I take my ideas on a creative journey leaning heavily on my instincts and life experience when working in the studio.

My work is always based on a real experience and I invariably produce a large body of work on a chosen theme.

I work expressively on the canvas with brush, palette knife, spatula, sticks and fingers. The surface can result in a mixture of stains, glazes, rich texture and thickly applied areas of paint.'
